Craven Volunteer Centre and HML win joint
award
Craven Volunteer Centre and Homeloan Management Limited
were delighted to be announced as a winning partnership
at the recent Yorkshire Forward Creating Better Futures
Awards 2008.
The Awards have been established to highlight the successful
partnerships between the private sector and voluntary, community
and faith organisations. The aim is to demonstrate the true
partnership working between the sectors, and the Awards
are designed to encourage the sharing and development skills,
knowledge and ability with the community economic development
agenda, whilst promoting best practice.
Craven Volunteer Centre, together with HML won the “Measuring
Effectiveness Award” by demonstrating the variety
of ways in which HML employees dedicate their time to a
number of volunteering projects, both as individuals and
on group projects. HML also promotes volunteering within
the organisation by allowing the Volunteer Centre to post
regular volunteering bulletins to their staff website. In
addition to this, the company has recently provided financial
support to the Volunteer Centre’s Good Neighbour Scheme.
Midge Ure, formerly of Ultravox, presented
a sculptured glass trophy to both Katherine Wass from HML
and Annie Heaton and Val Ward from Craven Volunteer Centre
at a lavish reception at Leeds Town Hall last Wednesday.
In addition to this, the Volunteer Centre receives a bursary
of £10,000.

- Craven Volunteer Centre was delighted to host a German
exchange student, Eva Maria Kleinschwärzer, on work
experience in February. The exchange was arranged between
Skipton Girls’ High School and the Gymnasium in
Simbach.

Evi came from a small village called Julbach. She worked
with us for one week, helping with various administrative
tasks, assisting with publicity and shadowing Annie on the
Good Neighbour Scheme client assessments.
With her perfect English, she quickly became a valued member
of the team and we hope to keep in touch.
- New Service
We have just launched a new Home from Hospital scheme
- see Community Services
for more details, thanks to funding from North
Yorkshire County Council (administered by Age
